Procrastination. Uuuuuuhhhh......

We started working on the back yard like a month ago, and we still haven't put in the grass. We haven't even ordered it yet. Plus, we still need to do the topsoil. Sometimes I wish I was like Samantha from Bewitched and I could just wriggle me nose and find the entire back yard done. Yessssssss.

Pictures at the Park

Visiting the Fire Station!

One of the kids I watch has been pretty much obsessed with these two books we got at the library about the fire station. I decided it was time to go to the main station downtown and take a tour. When we got there the main ladder truck was all disassembled while they did regular maintenance on it.

So, we went over and someone showed us the other fire truck they had inside. The boys got to get the lights going, and Meghan got to jump in and start it up! She was pretty stoked!

The station got a call, so the fire truck had to take off. The fireman showing us around gave the boys each a little activity pack and a plastic fire helmet.

I asked if there was anything else around the station we could check out, and the fireman asked if we wanted to see the kitchen. They were making breakfast. We went back to the kitchen, and the fireman offered the boys a fried egg. They gleefully accepted. It was hilarious!

Around the side of the Fire House was this weird 3-D mural. It's very nice except for the scene depicted on the right. It's a little kid who looks like he almost just died dragging himself out of the arroyo (NM flash flood canal) while a chick from the fire station kneels by him smiling and filling out her report. It's kinda demented looking.

We got one last picture before we left of myself and the kids in front of the ladder truck. Good times.

Visiting UNM

I decided to take Meghan up to the college so she could check out the whole college scene. We were late for the regular tour, so we jumped in when they got to the dorms, and then just wandered around checking stuff out. Meghan didn't know she could major in Math. We may have an Engineer on our hands!

Goofing around by the creepy statues.

Next to the other creepy statue with flamenco drag queen lady.

We found these glasses next to the duck pond. Maya looks like the baby from The Hangover.

4th of July!

My Dad was driving from Illinois to Phoenix and had the awesome timing to be here for the 4th of July! At the last minute, I decided to throw together a little party. We got fireworks and propane (and excellent combo!) and hung out at the house with friends, food, and sparkly fire! Our awesome neighbors went to Moriarty to get the fireworks that are illegal in ABQ, so we got a pretty good fireworks show from the back yard and roof, too!

One of the explosives was called the Golden Shower Fountain. Gross! So, of course I needed my picture with it. Haha!

We just roto-tilled our back yard and haven't gotten around to putting in the sod yet. It worked out great, though, because we had the perfect spot to light junk on fire!

Even the doggies had a good time!

Quick Day Trip

First of all, I'd like to apologize to everyone living in Prescott who I did not visit. I drove out to Prescott mid-week last week to visit my grandparents. My grandfather was hospitalized after a fall. No broken bones, but he was severely dehydrated and his blood sugar level was off the charts. They stabilized him, and while I was there he was transferred from YRMC to a rehabilitation center in Prescott Valley in hopes that they can get him walking again. As for my Grammy, her bladder cancer is still sticking around. She is scheduled to have her bladder removed on July 15th. I'd really appreciate it if you could keep them both in your prayers (or whatever it is you do!). Send good juju's!

I drove down to Prescott late Tuesday, and spent the day there Wednesday before driving back home. Time was limited, so sorry to all the Ristig's I didn't visit. There was seriously no time. I did bring Maya per my Grammy's request (which made for an interesting 7-hour car ride!). Luckily she slept most of the way. Here are a few pictures I took while visiting.
